our stories
Vallerie Dalrymple, Designer & Co-Owner
Vallerie’s passion for design began as a military spouse when she realized the importance of making a house a home. She recognized the impact and significance design had in their lives and how it changed how they felt having to up-root and frequently move cross-country within their first 10 years of their family’s life.

Before her CAD days, she would draw out her daughter’s room with pencil and decide where her crib or toddler bed would go, along with her rocking chair and other furnishings according to the window placement of that house. “What was going to make her the happiest while making the most sense?” THIS was always the first room to be
unpacked. The fear of not knowing a place, the people or having anyone was definitely scary, but I could create, design a place for my family and make it feel safe and comfortable, and so I did.

Originally from Corpus Christi, Texas, Vallerie earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi before embarking on a journey as a dedicated military spouse. Engaging in philanthropic work with organizations like the EOD Warrior Foundation, where she served as an ambassador and Homes for our Troops reflected her deep-rooted commitment to serving others. Inspired by her passion for interior design, she pursued further education at the Design Institute of San Diego, obtaining a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design. During her time at DISD, she served on the Student ASID (American Society of Interior Designers) Board as Membership Director and later became the Student Representative on the ASID San Diego Board. She then went on to become the first Humble Design Committee Chair where she served as a liaison between ASID and Humble Design. She is very proud and happy to be continuing on her path with Humble Design as a Member at Large and also serves as the Director of Professional Development for the ASID-SD Board.
In 2019, she co-founded The Designers Firm with Rudi Haido, where they specialize in projects such as AirBnb designs, residential remodels, new builds, and exterior design. Their unwavering commitment to client satisfaction underscores their success in delivering exceptional design services across various sectors.
Vallerie resides in San Diego with her husband, Michael, and their two children, Isabella and Alexander, as well as their dog, Lucy.
Rudi Haido, Designer & Co-Owner
Rudi Haido was born in the historic Assyrian town of Alqosh where he then spent a year in Turkey before relocating to the United States at the age of 15. At this time in his life, he was already fluent in three languages and he soon graduated from high school shortly after.
Having lived in four different countries, Rudi developed a profound fascination with cultures, civilizations, history, and lifestyles. His curiosity led him to explore the fields of civil engineering and interior design, recognizing its impact on people’s lives and the environment. He also cultivated a strong interest in sustainability and minimalist design.
After his high school graduation, he embarked on a path toward a civil engineering degree driven by his fascination with buildings and environmental enhancement.

However, despite his interest in civil engineering, he discovered that his true passion lay in creative and enjoyable work, prompting a shift in career direction. He enrolled at the Design Institute of San Diego, where he pursued a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design. While working as a tutor at DI, Rudi crossed paths with fellow designer, Vallerie Dalrymple. Their collaboration began with their first interior design project together and has since flourished, leading to the successful completion of several projects.

In 2019, he co-founded The Designers Firm with Vallerie, where they specialize in projects such as AirBnb designs, residential remodels, new builds, and exterior design. He is meticulous and detail-oriented, with a dedication to prioritizing client satisfaction.
